    The causes of high girl dropout in primary school, education in Kamuge sub-county, Pallisa district

    This study established the influence of domestic violence on pupils’ academic performance in government schools in Kamuge Town Council Pallisa District. It was guided by the following research objectives; to establish the prevalence of domestic violence in Buyinja Sub-County in Pallisa District, to investigate the effects of domestic violence on pupils’ academic performance in government primary schools in Kamuge Town Council in Pallisa District, and to assess ways of curbing domestic violence in families in Kamuge Town Council in Pallisa District. The study adopted quantitative approach hence applied descriptive design. The research study targeted a population of 93 in 6 government primary schools in the sub county. These schools have a total population of 87 teachers and 6 head teachers. Both questionnaires and interview guides were used to collect data. Data was analyzed using tables, frequencies and percentage. The study findings show that domestic violence is common hence negatively the academic performance of pupils in the sub-county. The study suggested possible remedies to domestic violence such as sensitization family peace, women empowerments etc. The study recommends that communities are required to formulate by-laws aiming to totally avoid domestic violence in families, for example elect special persons concerned with matters on domestic violence who will continuous issue such matters at both local council and courts of law for here-in.
