    The effects of teaching materials on the academic performance of primary school pupils in Kidongole sub county, Bukedea district

    The topic of this research was "an investigation into the factors affecting performance in academic performance by primary pupils in PLE in Kidongole Sub County in Bukedea district". The objectives of the study were to: find out the most effective and efficient methods of teaching academic performance by primary pupils in PLE in primary schools, the type of instructional materials used in teaching academic performance by primary pupils in PLE and the Influence of instructional materials towards teaching social studies. The significance of this study may help the teachers in the field, education officers, school inspectors, head teachers, college tutors, pupils and curriculum developers to improve on academic performance by primary pupils in PLE as a discipline. The researchers employed both qualitative and quantitative survey design and eight schools were sampled for the study. The researcher used questionnaires and interview guides to collect data and four schools were selected for the study. The researcher analysed data using frequencies and percentages and tables. The research found out that most primary teachers have continued to teach SST additionally, most schools lack instructional materials and in terms of attitude of towards SST some teachers have a negative attitude because it is a subject. It was recommended that periodical seminars, work shops and refresher courses e organized, teachers go for further training and also acquire instructional materials for teaching social studies.
