    Court dismisses petition to block Owino market project

    The High Court has dismissed an application seeking to block St Balikuddembe [Owino] market re-development project, citing lack of merit in the suit. The petition was filed by Bamufunampola St Balikuddembe Market Association (BSMA), which sought to stop the Shs1.5 trillion project that was set to start early this year.

    Kampala polls register low voter turnout.

    Unlike in the just concluded February 18 presidential and parliamentary elections where hundreds of voters stood in long queues as early as 6am to cast their vote, local government elections yesterday registered a low voter turnout in most parts of Kampala and Wakiso districts despite early delivery of polling materials.
