    Court blocks eviction of Wakiso residents.

    The Land Division of the High Court yesterday issued an interim order temporarily stopping National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) from evicting over 400 residents of Namataba and Kito villages in Wakiso. The interim orders of the court will stay in place until May 31 next year when the main suit now pending before the same court would be heard by Justice Andrew Bashaija.

    Parliament, reporters asked to settle case

    The Attorney General has told the High Court that his office will mediate between Parliament and the Parliamentary Press Association in a case requiring the House reporters to possess degrees. Presenting his submission in court, senior state attorney George Kaleemera said this is a case which does not need to be tried, therefore, "the Attorney General will make an effort so that both parties can amicably settle their differences".

    KAMPALA. Uchumi Supermarkets Uganda has sued its former landlord for allegedly auctioning some of their property after it closed its business last year. Uchumi accuses Golf Course Holdings and Watts Business Association of placing an advert in the newspapers, seeking to auction Uchumi's property on January 27 with plan to recover their rent arrears yet the supermarket had offered assurance of payment on liquidation.
