    Kisoro elderly to get free health insurance scheme.

    Over 170 elderly people from the Kisoro district are to benefit from the free health insurance scheme initiated by the Bafumbira World, an association dominated by Kampala based youth from Kisoro. The association also has some few members who live in Kisoro. The beneficiaries have been selected from all the sub-counties of Kisoro.

    NDA urged to register sickle cell drug

    Statistics show that every year, about 20,000 children with sickle cell disease are born in Uganda. However, 80% of them die under the age of five. Therefore the health minister has directed NDA to register a drug used in the treatment of sickle cell disease.

    Nebbi truck victims admitted to Mengo

    Three students of Uringi Secondary School in Nebbi district are admitted in critical condition at Mengo Hospital in Kampala, following a fatal accident that occurred on Tuesday. Grace Kwiyucwiny, the state minister for northern Uganda, said headteachers who put the lives of students at risk by loading them onto trucks should face thee law because that mode of transport was banned by the education ministry.

    UNRA, local governments get shs102b for road maintenance

    Shs 102b has been released to several government agencies and sub-agencies for maintenance of public roads for the third quarter of the financial year 2017/18. The funds were released by the URF. The agencies to benefit UNRA, KCCA, 121 local governments and their sub-agencies, town councils and sub-counties.
