    Buikwe North candidate held.

    Mr Charles Kalazani walked to Buikwe District tally centre hoping to have his results read out and later declared new Member of Parliament for Buikwe North Constituency last Saturday, but this was not to be. Mr Kalazani, who was an FDC candidate in the race, had stood up inside the tally centre to raise a complain as to why the declaration forms he had were different from the ones the Electoral Commission received.

    NRM party wins in Buikwe, Buvuma.

    The incumbent Buikwe District LC5 chairperson, Mr Mathias Kigongo, has retained his seat. Mr Kigongo, the NRM flag bearer, was declared winner after bagging 25,684 votes, followed by Ms Immaculate Kabaale, an Independent, who got 23,429 votes.

    Presidential, MP vote results discourage Buikwe voters.

    Unlike the previous elections when voter materials arrived late at polling stations in Buikwe District, this time everything was in place as early as 6:30am, but the first person to cast a vote showed up at 9am. This was the situation at most polling stations in the district as people voted the district local council chairperson and the councillors.
