    Farmers accuse OWC of distributing fake seeds

    Farmers from Busoga region have blamed Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) officials for providing poor quality seedlings, which they said have failed to adapt to the climate of the area. The farmers also said OWC does not equip them with skills on how to plant, space and identify the pests and diseases that affect coffee seedlings. They further explained that the coffee seedlings given are mixed (Robusta and Arabica) yet the latter grows best in Bugisu region.

    Jinja cancels contract with Platex Construction.

    The tender of Platex Construction Company based in Juba, South Sudan, to construct main street and Eng. Zikusooka streets in Jinja municipality, has been cancelled. Majidu Batambuze, the Jinja Municipal had some anomalies, which prompted the municipal council to annul the contract.

    Newborn stolen from Jinja Hospital

    The police in Jinja district are hunting for an unidentified woman who stole a one-day-old baby boy from Jinja Hospital on Thursday. The mother, Jennifer Namukose, told Saturday Vision that the baby thief had befriended her at her hospital bed through the window and requested to carry her child which she did.

    Partners abandoning condoms after three months, says survey

    A survey conducted by the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) indicates that most sexual partners abandon using condoms after just three months into relationships. These couples are advancing to unprotected sex without knowing each other's status, Dr Bernard Kikaire, the HIV NODE co-ordinator at UVRI said.

    Senide blames new schools for falling standards
