The Electoral Commission chairman Badru Kiggundu on Saturday afternoon declared President Museveni, the NRM flag-bearer, as winner of the 2016 presidential elections with 5,617,503 votes, a percentage of 60.75.

    Mr Paul Amoru Omiat has joined Parliament on second attempt. Mr Amoru, who previously worked with Daily Monitor as an editor, was declared winner of the Dokolo North parliamentary seat by Dokolo District returning officer, Mr Benjamin Ewal. Mr Amoru, who was running on the NRM ticket, polled 15,442 votes, while his rival and FDC flag bearer John Baptist Okello Okello got 14,978 votes.
