    Municipal council leaders fight over abattoir project.

    Leaders of Eastern division in Ntungamo Municipality have demanded that the top council leaders cancel the plan to relocate the abattoir from Park Ward to Western Division. The municipal council is planning to construct a modern abattoir in Kahunga Ward in Western division using Shs100 million grant they got from Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries in October last year.

    Museveni defends NRM victory, dismisses rigging allegations

    President Museveni yesterday dismissed Opposition claims of massive rigging and poll fraud in the run up to Saturday's declaration by the Electoral Commission that he had won the 2016 polls with 60.8 per cent of the total votes cast. Addressing his maiden press conference at his country home in Rwakitura, Kiruhura District a day after he was declared winner, Mr Museveni said: "Anyone trying to challenge the results of the elections must not be serious ... that's rubbish".

    Ntungamo leaders query Shs12b sanitation project.

    Local leaders have raised concern over the Shs12.7 billion sanitation project in Ntungamo Municipality saying it has failed to take off. The project involved constructing improved pit latrines at three schools and toilet at Ntungamo Municipal council offices, Ntungamo central market , main matooke market, bus park and taxi park, according to the district leaders.

    President Museveni has advised that wetland encroachers should be encouraged to leave the wetlands on their own or face forceful evictions since they are destroying water sources leading to long dry spells and loss of water for production. Delivering his Christmas message at St Mathew Cathedral Kyamate in Ntungamo District on Sunday, the president said there is need for encroachers of several wetlands to leave before they are evicted
