Item Health at stake due to climate change(Daily Monitor, 2017-09-06) Ssebyoto, AsadhuIn March 2010, Bududa district was struck by a landslide that left more than 100 people dead and property lost. And a series of landslides have followed in 2013, including the recent one in Sironko district that killed seven people. According to experts this shows how bad climate change can be. They are live wires to many economic activities such as crop cultivation, fishing, livestock rearing, and hydroelectricity generation. All Uganda's poverty eradication plans, such as the National Development plan 2, vision 2040, sustainable Development goals and operation wealth creation, among others, will come to nothing if wetlands are not protected.
