    New minerals survey launched

    The new mineral exploration survey programme was last week launched in Kasese and Bunyangabu districts. The programme is being undertaken by Ms. Cobalt and Geo Tech Ltd both Canadian Firms. "This not mining but merely finding the deposits and then mining happens six to ten years later".

    UPDF launches crackdown on illegal fishing in Western Uganda

    The Fisheries Protection Unit (FPU) has issued a three month ultimatum to thee fishing communities at Lake Edward Rwenshama landing site in Rukungiri to stop using illegal gear. The destroyed fishing gear included nine boats, 2,330 under-size fishing nets and 2,000 hooks.
