dc.description.abstractThe Treaty establishing the EAC (EAC Treaty, 2000) provides for the Common Market, whose main thrust is articulated in the Customs Union Protocol (CUP) and the Common Market Protocol (CMP) and accompanying regulations and instruments that spell out rules and requirements for EAC cross border trade and investment in goods and services. The latter include; the EAC Customs Management Act, 2004 and Amendment Bill 2015; the EAC Standardisation, Quality assurance, Metrology and Testing Act, 2006; the EAC Elimination of Non-Tariff Barriers Act, 2017; the EAC One Stop Border Posts Act, 2016; the EAC Vehicle Load Control Act, 2013; and the draft EAC Model Investment Treaty, 2016, among others).
