dc.description.abstractResidents of Kayunga District are still locked in a state of confusion on who won the just concluded LC5 elections after supporters of rival candidates on Thursday roughed up the district returning officer, Ms Ruth Nakacwa, accusing her of presenting false results that showed that Mr Tom Sserwanga, an Independent, had won. The candidates consequently blocked the declaration of the winner and demanded that the elections be repeated despite an announcement by Ms Nakacwa that Mr Sserwanga had polled 17,328 votes against Dr Sazir Mayanja's (NRM) 14,467.
