Abstract
Parenting involves providing a supportive home environment that encourages learning. This study presents the impact of parental involvement (PI) on secondary school mathematics performance of senior two students of Kween district in the three schools. Data were collected through adapted questionnaires administered to parents and teachers selected through stratified random sampling. A simple regression model was applied to examine the relationship between parental involvement (narrowly measured as hours spent on Homework/attendance) and mathematics performance. Data was analyzed using basic statistics and linear regression. The analysis found that PI, as measured, accounted for negligible amount of the variance in performance, suggesting the dominance of unmeasured systemic factors.
