East African Community (EAC) Partner States is in the process of intensifying its agriculture to meet the Regional demands for food and to increase Agricultural exports. In a bid to intensify agricultural production, the Partner States foresee an increased reliance on use of pesticides. However, inadequate and varied pesticide regulatory systems within the Region can result in environmental deterioration, reductions in agricultural productivity and adverse impacts on health of consumers and the surrounding community as well. Development of an efficient, competitive and sustainable agricultural sector in the Region requires strict standards on use of pesticides
