| dc.description.abstract | This study developed and validated a Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) framework for Smart Building Management Systems (SBMS) integration in Uganda. The study used a Design Science Research approach and mixed methods to design and test a prototype that integrates sensors, communication networks, edge computing, intelligent control, and security mechanisms. The results revealed that the framework enabled effective real-time monitoring, automated operations, energy management, and improved system responsiveness. In addition, edge computing increased system reliability over network outages. Expert assessment showed high technical feasibility (mean = 4.6) and practical applicability (mean = 4.5). The study concludes that a context-specific CPS framework can provide a pragmatic basis for addressing interoperability, connectivity, cybersecurity, and automation challenges in Uganda’s smart building sector. | |
