Abstract
Despite government pledges to introduce a gun fingerprinting system to track and identify firearms used in crimes, the initiative remains stalled. Fresh killings continue to raise questions about Uganda's ability to investigate and deter violent crime, and about whether the long-promised forensic tool will ever move from rhetoric to reality.
