Abstract
The appointment of justice Flavian Zeija as Chief Justice has provoked a wave of commentary. Much of it fixated on the symbolism of the swearing-in at President Museveni's farm at Kizozi, as though the site of the oath were more consequential than the integrity, judgment and institutional burden of the man who took it.
