dc.description.abstractThe Protocol was adopted in accordance with the EAC Treaty which commits Partner States (Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzania) to cooperate in monetary and financial matters. Under Article 151 of the Treaty, it was necessary to adopt a protocol to spell out the objectives, scope and institutional mechanisms for co-operation and integration under the Monetary Union.
