Busitema Universityhttps://bdears.busitema.ac.ug/handle/123456789/8058University PolicyGender mainstreaming is a global concern as shown in various international treaties. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR, 1948, Article 1 &2), International Covenant on Economic Social and Cultural Rights (1966), the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women, (CEDAW) (1975), the Beijing Platform and Declaration of Human rights (1995), the Millenium Development Goal three (3) which emphasized promotion of Gender Equality, and now the post 2015 agenda of the sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); specifically goal five on Gender Equality. Regionally, gender mainstreaming frameworks are associated with instruments such as the African Union Gender policy of 2009, African Charter on Human and People's Rights (1986: Article 18 (3 &19)).enGENDER MAINSTREAMING POLICYOther
