The GFSM 2014 defines the main principles to adopt in the compilation of public sector statistics. Implementation of the sector delineation process is not a straightforward exercise and may require concerted efforts to ensure that the various entities of the public sector are classified appropriately. The public sector consists of all resident institutional units controlled directly, or indirectly, by resident government units; that is, all units of the general government sector and resident public corporations.
