    Voting was suspended from morning to 1pm in Arua Hill and Oli Division in Arua District, which has more than 60 polling stations as the registers went missing. By 9am, some polling stations such as Arua Public Nursery School were empty as no one had voted in the local council elections.

    Suspected crime preventers arrested over poll violence

    Residents of Omugo Sub-county, Arua District, yesterday arrested eight suspected crime preventers for allegedly attempting to attack the home of Mr Amato Boroa, an FDC parliamentary candidate for Terego East constituency. Speaking to Daily Monitor yesterday morning, Mr Amato said the suspects, who were moving in a convoy of three cars, were also found with clubs, machetes and knives.

Officials hail the onboarding of 51 million Ugandans—majority previously under-banked or unbanked—onto mobile money services, as evidence of deepening financial inclusion of the poor and the informal sector.
