    NRM district boss accused of house grabbing.

    The secretary general of NRM party in Jinja District, Mr William Kato Kaziba, has been accused of grabbing a house from a family of six in Igombe Trading Centre, Buwenge Sub-county. Mr Kaziba, who denies the claims, is also accused of using his influence within NRM to use police in Jinja to intimidate Mr Fred Kiyuba, the owner of the house, who has been arrested for trespass more than 12 times in the last four years.

    Vote counting in the district council elections, that pitted the ruling National Resistance Movement candidates against Opposition parties had the ruling party big shots leading in most of the districts, provisional results showed yesterday. Although Opposition parties maintained the grip on their strongholds in Kampala, Wakiso, Kasese and Gulu, and also made inroads in Masaka and Sironko districts, the NRM maintained its stranglehold on the leadership of most of the districts.
