    MPs to re-debate GMO Bill.

    The deputy speaker of parliament, Jacob Oulanyah, has directed the government to re-table before parliament, the National Biotechnology and Biosafety Bill 2012, for reconsideration. In December, President Yoweri Museveni declined to assent to the Bill, citing lack of protection of consumers, indigenous crops and animals by the proposed piece of legislation.

    Parliment okays patients rights Bill.

    Parliament has okayed Busiki county MP Paul Akamba to introduce a private Members' Bill entited, the Patient's Rights and Responsibilities Bill, 2017. Presenting a motion for the introduction of the Bill to Parliament yesterday, Akamba noted that the Bill is aimed at improving the quality of healthcare services received by the patients and to empower patients to participate in the process of seeking or receiving health care.
