Abstract
The announcement made at the Africa we build Summit 2026 in Nairobi may well go down as one of the most consequential economic decisions for East African in recent years. Bringing together president Yoweri Museveni and William Ruto, alongside Africa's foremost industrialist Aliko Dangote, the proposal to construct a 650,000-barrel-per-day oil refinery at Tanzania's port of Tanga signals a bold step towards regional self reliance and economic integration.
