    Govt review nurses' curriculum.

    The government will, beginning this year, start testing nursing and midwifery students on soft skills to improves their attitude while attending to patients when they join the world of work. Ms. Mariam Walusimbi, Uganda Nurses and Midwifery Examinations Board (Unmeb) chairperson, said candidates will be expected to articulate and display the different skills required for each procedure.

    Lucky Aromarach, now 18, was diagnosed with nodding syndrome in 2012 and has since been battling the disease. But before she could recover fully, the mother of a four year old boy, is expecting another child whose father she does not know. The 14year-old girl started showing signs of improvement and resumed school but fell prey to a defiler.

    Mental health patients at Jinja Regional Referral Hospital have started shunning treatment and routine check up due to persistent lack of drugs at the facility. The patients also decry the high costs of transport involved while seeking treatment.
