Abstract
This research project explores green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using Aloe vera gel
extract as a natural and stabilizing agent. Silver nitrate solution was reacted with Aloe vera gel
extract under controlled pH (8-9) adjusted by dilute sodium hydroxide, followed by an incubation
at 60⁰C for 6 hours. The synthesis process was monitored by observing color changes from
colourless to yellow and then brown, indicating nanoparticles formation. UV Vis spectroscopy
showed a characteristic Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) peak around 400- 500 nm, confirming
the synthesis of silver nanoparticles.
The study demonstrates that Aloe vera gel extract effectively facilitates the eco-friendly synthesis
of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) with reaction conditions such as pH and temperature playing a
very important role in nanoparticle formation and stability. This green synthesis method offers a
sustainable alternative to other chemical methods, with potential applications in medicine,
catalysis and material science
