Item Supermarket Management System (Case Study Area: Sky Supermarket Nagongera Town Council)(Busitema University, 2024) Wofakale GodfreyThis project looks at the merchandise management sector of the business industry. Utilizing computers, the internet, and other electronic devices has made managing various tasks. The sky supermarket current system is inefficient and prone to errors that leads to losses; Therefore, project is to design and implement an electronic supermarket management system that allows for the proper management of merchandise details and data in a centralized, organized manner. It also features an easy-to-use interface so that even users with rudimentary computer knowledge can easily interact with the system. This project aims to build a platform that will enable both the user and the administrator to monitor daily activities related to merchandise operations and management in the supermarket, such as merchandise record keeping, sales management, revenue and profit computation, and customer order fulfillment. The specifications for a supermarket merchandise management system serve as the foundation for its execution. Managing stock levels and order fulfillment In order to assess the viability and usability of a completed system, this article provides a sufficient description of the merchandise management system. The system was implemented using a rapid application development method that used software and tools like SQL Server, Hypertext Processor Language, Notepad, Visual Studio Code, XAMPP Server, JavaScript, and UML for modeling. The main idea is to use extra features for data interpretation when tracking the sales of goods from customer orders. Multiple products can be added to the system in the database and client-server paradigms. This supports the targeted small enterprises and permits expansion in the future.Item Poultry Management System Case Study: Jwf Poultry Farm(Busitema University, 2023) Wilson MweseziThe online poultry management system was designed to help small scale poultry farmers to be able to store their farm records in a place they could easily access them like their smartphone and as well be able to carry out their farm management with ease. The online poultry management system was an android application that was developed to have a user who was the farm manager or owner who was able to store the various farm records as well as edit or delete such records or even retrieve the already existing ones with ease because access to one’s smartphone is easier than using other gadgets like laptops, desktops. The online poultry management system included various sections like the dashboard which provided quick access to the user so that they could access the various modules in the application without difficulty. It also included the eggs section where one could add a collection, and then increment it whenever they collected more eggs and could as well view the total eggs collected on that particular day. It also included the sales activity or page where you could view the sales for a particular day and also add new ones that had been made. It also showed the total sales for that particular day. It also included a purchases or expenses activity or page that showed all the purchases and as well allowed the user to add a new purchase once it had been made. It also included a feeding activity or page which contains records on the house to be fed, the time of feeding, the type of feed to be given to that particular house as well as the quantity of feeds to be given to that particular house. It also allowed the user to add a new feeding record containing the above and as well was able to search for a particular house once required. It also included a health activity or page where you could view the vaccination date, vaccines to be administered as well as the disease to be treated and the user could also be able to add a new record in the same activity. It also included various reports such as eggs report, purchase report, sales report provided to the user at any time. The system was developed using Rapid Application Development (RAD). It was developed using android studio which uses Intellij IDEA as its Integrated Development Environment. The language used for developing was java in association with XML all available in android studio. XML handles how the different activities/pages would appear then java now connects the different activities as well as carry out various operations in the system including calculations, database connections to mention but a few. The application is online and the data from the various users is stored in google Firebase which is under Google Cloud.Item Retail Shop Debtor Management Tool (Case Study: Opio Peter’s Retail Shop In Nagongera Town Council Tororo District)(Busitema University, 2024) Wangusi Emmanuel AlfredThe purpose of this research was to develop a comprehensive and effective retail shop debtor management tool for tracking, analyzing and managing debtors. This improved the efficiency and accuracy of debtor management in retail businesses. The manual system of debtor management that existed was time-consuming and error-prone, leading to delays in decision-making and loss of debtor information. The developed tool was designed to automate the process of debtor management, including sales transactions, inventory management, and financial reporting. The system based on a relational database management system and includes a user-friendly interface for easy data entry and retrieval. The research included a literature review of the existing systems, an analysis of the requirements of the developed tool, and the development and testing of the system. The outcomes of the study included improved efficiency and accuracy of debtor management, reduced costs, and increased revenue for retail businesses. the developed system was implemented using tools such as MySQL, PHP. The study was significant as it addresses a critical problem faced by retail businesses and provides a practical solution for improving their debtor information.Item School Property Management System Case Study: Nabumali High School(Busitema University, 2024) Wakwaale DanielThis project report is about School Property Management System which was designed to help schools manage properly their school properties by keeping proper track of available properties, those borrowed and those that are free. This could enable the school procurement committee to plan well. The system consisted of three sections for example the customer’s side where a customer would log in, view available properties, book a property of interest also send a message to the school where need be. The second section was the school which added available properties, viewed the customer’s messages and bookings, updated on the available properties. The third section is the administrator who was able to update the system by making changes on accounts and could also view the properties available and those borrowed and also generating reports for some events in the specific periods. The main aim as to why I underwent this research was to help schools to overcome the numerous shortfalls like poor storage of property records, tiresomeness during recording of property information on papers, time wasting and costly for customers who use the properties. This project was a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. The researcher employed observation, interviews and review of documents as methods of data collection. The methodology that was first applied was SSAD (Structured System Analysis and Design) used for analyzing and designing the structure of the system. This was followed by the Rapid Application Development) methodology which was easy to implement to a working system and saved time and finally the prototyping was also applied. For management of the database, the researcher used MySQL and phpMyAdmin as my IDE to normalize, store and update data as well as other activities on data like MySQL work bench to draw the data structures. With text editors, visual studio was used. Furthermore, the researcher used php to link the MySQL for the database and the HTML, the html for creating web pages and forms, java script for popups, alerts or notifications and CSS for styling pages as the programming languages as well as bootstrap as one of the technologies (libraries) used to make multiple page styling easier. Then the researcher also used Xamp local server to probably host the system on the local device and the system itself was simply accessed through web-browsers like Google chrome and internet explorer. This system was then confirmed to run on the windows XP Operating system.Item Online Coffee Shop Management System (Case Study. Nanyanga Coffee Shop In Busia)(Busitema University, 2024) Oundo Massy DanielAn Online coffee management System is a software application developed for managing various coffee shop activities such as booking available coffee on stock, paying online, managing orders, checking available coffee online. In this project, the main object was to develop an online coffee shop management System. This system was developed to address high transport cost on coming to check available coffee in the shop, wasting money on advertisements in newspapers and radio adverts. The method used in the development of the project was spiral modal methodology that ensured systematic and sequential flow of the system stages. The system development tools used were Dataflow Diagram, Context Diagram, Entity Relationship Diagrams and a Flow Chart and the technologies used in implementation of the objectives of this study included MYSQL server database, PHP for server connections, and V.B (Visio basic) as the programing language. The result of the project was an Online coffee shop management System capable of allowing students to view, select and book coffee, allow coffee administrators to register clients and deliver to them the coffee depending on their preferences. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. Qualitative data is gathered through interviews and surveys with employees and directors, exploring their experiences and perceptions of the online leave management system. Quantitative data involves the analysis of leave-related metrics, such as approval times and overall system usage. Key findings underscore the system's positive impact on organizational efficiency, reducing administrative burdens associated with manual paperwork and approval processes. Employee satisfaction is notably improved, attributed to the system's user-friendly interface, accessibility, and streamlined leave request workflows. The study also highlights the system's role in ensuring compliance with labor laws and internal policies, minimizing errors, and providing accurate record-keeping. Furthermore, the report examines into the system's contribution to data analysis and reporting capabilities, showcasing how organizations can leverage leave-related data to make informed workforce management decisions. Cost savings and scalability aspects are explored, emphasizing the economic benefits and adaptability of the online leave management system in the face of organizational growth. The findings affirm that the adoption of an online employee leave management system has far-reaching implications for modern workplaces, aligning with the changing nature of work and supporting employee well-being. The study concludes with recommendations for organizations considering the implementation of such systems for optimal performance and ongoing improvement.Item Online Birth Certificate Management System Case Study: Tororo Main Hospital(Busitema University, 2024) Otogo TobiasOnline birth certificate management system was designed to allow the parents of the new born babies to easily acuire their birth certificates with delay, errors among others. The main objective of this project was to develop online birth certificate management system. The methodologies used include the Structured System Analysis and Design (SSAD) which was used for analysis and designing the system as well as the RAD (Rapid Application Development) which was easy to deliver a working system with all the modules worked upon one after the other. For the development of the online birth certificatemanagement system, PHP was utilized for server-side scripting to handle data processing and logic. MySQL was employed as the relational database management system to store and manage birth certificate records efficiently. Together, PHP and MySQL enabled the creation of a dynamic, responsive and robust system capable of handling multiple requests and maintaining data integrity. In conclusion, from the various tests carried out, the designed online birth certificate management system was found to be reliable and practical thus meeting the intended objectives of the researcher. The system also makes it easy to track the birth records fluently and print them.Item Sacco Management System (Case Study: Woman Of Purpose Sacco Pallisa)(Busitema University, 2024) Osele James JacobHere in this report, the development of a web-based SACCO management system sought to provide solution for dealing with operational challenges that are faced by SACCO’s. These SACCO’s are vital for financial inclusion and local economic development - especially in regions that have limited access to formal sector banking. Potentially led by manual processes, resource scarcity and ineffective supervisory mechanisms in place that have the tendency of resulting to inefficacy, enhanced operational overheads and sluggish service delivery. The system under consideration aims to automate SACCO operations as well improve member participation and accessibility of financial services in real time. Features include online saving and loan applications, real-time transaction monitoring, member management etc. Using cutting-edge web development technologies of PHP, HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript the system will help to cut your operational costs allowing you to deliver services better with record member satisfaction. The main aim of the study is to come up with a web-based system that will automate SACCO’s operations and, in the process, increase their operational efficiency. While related aims are to study the literature for system requirements, design a suitable SACCO’s need based model-system and develop an easy-to-use web-based solution that would help them in efficient savers' savings mobilization/borrower's loans serve preparation with members managements respectively. This study was done at the Woman of Purpose SACCO found on Pallisa Agule Road over a course period of two and half months in demonstrating how web-based system implementation has objectives that if achieved could empower SACCO’s, enhance their operational efficiency for sustainable economic development through financial inclusion. The report assesses how well the system has been doing based on case studies and user feedback, areas for improvement are identified using this data as-well-as some challenges with adoption by users and scaling up of systems. SSADM (structured system analysis and design methodology) was used - with a highlevel model of the intended systems documented, which is then broken down to its smaller components that would be further tested for consistency in implementation.Item Staff Attendence And Performance Tracking System Case Study: Aircom Technologies Limited(Busitema University, 2024) Okwanga KfnnedyStaff attendance and performance tracking system is a web system by which any company or organization can manage tasks among its employees. Staff attendance and performance tracking system is an automation system, which is used to store the Work tasks information of a company and attendance of employees. In a company where the hierarchy of employees spans over thousand managing the work with them is a difficult job. And in an environment where number of jobs is done simultaneously picking the right person for the job is also difficult task, as you are not aware of their availability. This application is designed for such an environment where the work is divided into group of employees and during the course of division the employees are selected to be part of the work in hand. This software being a web based is easily accessible from any corner of the company as every machine is part of a LAN network. The reason why it is made as a web application rather than a window-based application if for the same reason. The complete task is divided into two types of users. Administrator (Highest authority), employee (working group Community). The activities underlying these sections are as per the company policies. This application provides most of the features required to manage the tasks developed in a firm. This volume presents the manner in which the software was developed and how the various problems are tackled at the different levels to convince the user.Item Internship Management Information System Case Study: Soroti University, Soroti(Busitema University, 2024) Okodan AlexThe purpose of this study was to solve all the problems that exist in each stage of the internship process, starting from application, registration, selecting an internship place, submission of report and appraisal of internship reports. This study used descriptive research methods. The primary aim of this study is to design and implement an internship management information system, introduce its use to Soroti University and be used by the appropriate departments of this organization and others in Uganda. The main goal of this paper is to research demands and practices on internships and to develop a web application in compliance with these demands and practices. Its role introduces portion of internship management system functionalities. An important component of communication between businesses, educational institutions, and students (S-B-A) is the Internship Management System (IMS), which is also a potent tool for enhancing the digitization of internship-related procedures. The Internship Management System (IMS) will facilitate many processes between the counterparts. Internships will ease the process of discovering talents fitting the internal culture of the companies and increasing the companies’ productivity. And, the internship will assist educational institutions being market-oriented by making students prior to their graduation to be better informed with the requests of the market and being aware of their skills and abilities. In this research, we give different perspectives and approaches on practices of internships, design patterns and frameworks and on reinforcing the communication between the three above mentioned pillars (S-B-A). Questionnaire surveys are used as a methodology for conducting this research. Businesses are the subject of the study and the gained information provide a better observation of the study. The design pattern is chosen as a trend in software development as best suited implementation for the internship web-based portal as an outcome of this study. The approaches employed include RAD (Rapid Application Development), which made it simple to deliver a functioning system by working on every part one after the other, and Structured System Analysis and Design (SSAD), which was employed for the system's analysis and design. The loan management system is a web-based system business solution which is utilized to simultaneously track sales activity in addition to inventory. The study was carried out to reduce the problems of inconsistency and inaccuracy of loan and mismanagement of the record due to the existing manual system used. An analysis of the existing manual system was done to get a better understanding of the system. Hence, Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodology was used in this research to implement an iterative methodology which is suitable for stand-alone applications that can be updated from time to time as may be required by the web-based system. Testing was done in every phase of the development life cycle to ensure that the new system worked properly. The system was designed and implemented using PHP programming language and MYSQL for the database. Meanwhile, the manual method so far has its attendant problem of being tedious. The researcher, in order to solve this time consuming, monotonous, and repetitive manual census activities went into a thorough study of the existing system. In the report proper, the Structured System Analysis and Design Methodology (SSADM) was adopted and explained. The high-level model of the proposed system was also designed and displayed in a format easily understandable to the user. The main objective of this project was to design an Online Bulk SMS System with a feedback mechanism to track the status of delivered messages. The main development approach employed for this project was Structured System Analysis and Design Methodology (SSADM). The system also unifies the internet and mobile networks making it possible to deliver messages through SMS gateway API.Item Student-Based Faculty Evaluation And Feedback Application Case Study: Busitema University-Nagongera Campus(Busitema University, 2024) Namazzi Alice NorahThe student-based faculty evaluation and feedback application was designed to allow the students to provide evaluations and feedback not only about the teaching effectiveness but also about different departments of the faculty for example sports department, power, water, security facilities in order to ensure that students have a comfortable learning environment. It consisted of twocomponents that is the students and the administrators. The students’ section within the application enabled the students to log into the application view the students’ dashboard and be able to select different departments of the faculty in order to provide their ratings and also write any suggestions/comments that they would be having. The administrator’s section within the application enabled the administrator to log into the application view the admin dashboard and be able to add new student in the database so as the student to access the application, edit the student information by either deleting the existing information or even updating it, view comments/suggestions written by the students from the different sections of the faculty and also be able to view the analyzed ratings through the usage ofthe pie charts. The methodologies used was Rapid Application Development (RAD) which was easy and helped a lot in delivering a working system in a very short period of time. The Model View Presenter (MVP) architecture was also used in designing the application in order to handle requests and provide data to the user. I further went ahead and used Firebase Realtime cloud database as the database management system for storing all the details of the application. I used android studio as the IDE and code and layout editor to develop the application plus using java programming language as a technology to develop the application. The operating system that was used to install the application on the mobile phones was Android operating system.Item E - Suggestion System Case Study: Sam Iga Memorial College – Maganjo(Busitema University, 2024) Muhehe GodfreyToday, information has become rapidly accessible because of technological advancements. It is inevitable for the educatory institutions, where the basis of information is formed, to pioneer at the point of presenting information. An E - suggestion system is part of this trend. The main Objective of this project was to develop an E-Suggestion System. The methodologies used were Rapid Application Development (RAD) which was easy and helped a lot in delivering a working system in a very short period of time. The Model View Presenter (MVP) architecture was also used in designing the application in order to handle requests and provide data to the user. I used visual studio code as the IDE and code and layout editor to develop the system plus using PHP programming language as a technology to develop the system. The operating system that was used was windows 10. In conclusion, from the various tests carried out, the designed E-Suggestion system was found to be reliable and practical thus meeting the intended objectives of the researcher.Item School Income Expense Records Management System Case Study: Bukalasi Secondary School(Busitema University, 2024) Kitale Ivan NangoliIncome Expense Records management system is a software application that helps individuals, institutions and businesses to manage their records. The system can track expenses, income and generate reports, and provide alerts on the expenditure for appropriate planning. Income and expense records in schools play a crucial role in financial management and accountability. These records provide valuable information about the financial health of educational institutions, allowing administrators to make informed decisions regarding budgeting, resource allocation, and planning for the future. Rather than using ledger books/paper sheets to keep income and expense data manually, Records are captured electronically into a database which makes it easier and manageable for retrieval. The study was carried out at Bukalasi secondary school in Eastern region in Bududa district and finally came up with school income and expense records management system that aid management in automatic keeping of financial records of the school. The major objective of the study was to develop Income Expense Records Management system. (IERMS) for Bukalasi Secondary School that would aid Management to automatically capture and manage daily expense and Income records with the specific objectives that’s investigating and collecting requirements for the new system, design, implement and test the system.Item Cloud-Based Health Access Information System (Cbhais) Case Study: Nabilatuk Health Centre Iv (Nhc)(Busitema University, 2023) Lokee MichaelThis is a computerized CBHAIS study that was conducted at Nabilatuk Health Center IV in Nabilatuk Town council, Nabilatuk district- karamoja (Uganda). Its main objective is to develop a health access information system that enables healthcare providers and patients to access and share patient data securely. It also reduces data silos in the health centres in Nabilatuk District as health centres will have a centralized database for access, storage and sharing of patients’ records. To come up with the system, data was collected through interviewing the doctors of NHC IV, health workers and patients as well as observation and focus group discussion. The data collected was analyzed and then used to design and implement the system using RAD model approach. The system was developed using the Unifying Modeling Languages with frontend and back-end interfaces with a database system. The developing software tools included PHP, HTML, JavaScript, Visual Studio, and Xampp together with MYSQL. The database stores records of patients and other health related information. The system also enables doctor and other system users to update, edit, delete, view, share prescriptions to patients’ inquiries at any time.Item Prison Records Management Information System (Prmis). Case Study: Kisoko Prison In Tororo (Uganda)(Busitema University, 2023) Kipyeko JohnsonThis project report is a summary of the requirements and the process that the researcher went through in developing a prison records management information system for Kisoko prisons. It highlights the background, literature review, methodology, data presentation, analysis, implementation, findings, recommendations and conclusions. The main objective was to develop a computer-based prison records management information system for the above-mentioned prison. The research was also supplemented by library materials, the internet and other sources of information which provided the already existing literature on the elements of an information system, the strength and weaknesses of the pillars of developing a prison record management information system. The method used in the survey was a longitudinal study in which used prison warders and visitors of the inmates as respondents. In the study, the data collection methods used was questionnaires and interview that wereadministered to the prison warders attached to the prison and some visitors. The analysis of data included the use of quantitative and qualitative methods. Statistical tables were also adopted to analyze the results of the study. The findings indicated that the number of inmates was escalating and the current manual system could not handle the records well and the required operations in real time and efficiently as required. Most of the respondents acknowledged the immediate need for a computer based solution. The recommendations included urging the management of the prison to take up a computer- based solution towards the problem by procuring the developed prison management information System which would solve the problem of data security, accessibility, timely report production and avoid redundancy.Item Online Food Ordering System (Case Study: Nagongera Resturant)(Busitema University, 2024) Kibet Mark SabilaThe inefficiencies associated with the manual ordering methods of food lead to the aim to develop an Online Food Ordering and delivery processes. The system offers a real-time updates to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. The system allows user access where customers can log in using their email and password, enabling them to browse menus, place orders and track the order statuses in real-time. The system facilitates the management of orders, including order placement, updates and delivery tracking. And it provides instant notifications on order status, ensuring customers and restaurant staff are informed throughout the process. Sampling, observation, interview methods were employed to gather insights and requirements from the potential users and stakeholders for the system design. Structured system analysis and design was utilized to ensure a systematic approach to system planning and analysis where Rapid Application Development (RAD) was adopted for iterative and efficient development of the system. The data models include the Context diagram which outlines the systems interactions with the external entities such as customers and the restaurant staff, data flow diagram which depicts how data is processed within the system and Entity relationship diagram which details the data entities involved and their relationships. The system streamlines the ordering process, reducing the time and errors associated with the manual methods. It minimizes the ordering mistakes and enhances overall order management. And it simplifies the process for customers and the restaurant staff, making food ordering and management more accessible and efficient. The Online Food Ordering System is designed to address the inefficiencies and accuracies of traditional food ordering methods. By integrating real-time updates and a user-friendly interface, the system significantly enhances the food ordering experience for customers and optimizes operations for the restaurant staff.
