Abstract
Food preparation in homes, restaurants, and institutions often require cutting vegetables into smaller pieces for cooking. Manual cutting using knives is time consuming, labor intensive and sometimes unsafe. This project focuses on the design and construction of an electric vegetable cutter powered by an AC motor to improve efficiency, reduce preparation time and increase safety. The system consists of feeding inlets, rotating cutting blades, electric motor, housing wooden frame, and an outlet for chopped vegetables. The machine operates by converting electrical energy to mechanical rotational motion, which drives cutting plates. During testing, variables such as cutting speed, motor power consumption, cutting efficiency and size uniformity of vegetables are measured. The device is suitable for domestic kitchens, school kitchens, restaurants, prison kitchens and small food processing units.
