Rugunda described financial reporting as essential in attracting investment in the key production sectors of the country, to stimulate development and structural growth of the economy.Item Determinants For The Performance Of Small And Medium Enterprises In Uganda.A Casestudy In Budadiri Town Council(Busitema University, 2024) Wolimbwa IvanThe study sought to establish the relationship between the determinants of performance of small and medium enterprises in Uganda: a case of Budadiri Town Council, Sironko district. The study was guided by the following research objectives; to examine the relationship between level of financial institutions and performance of small and medium enterprises at Budadiri Trading Center; to establish the relationship between the nature of collateral security and performance of small and medium enterprises at Budadiri Town Council Sironko district; to determine the relationship between the level of entrepreneurship skills and performance of small and medium enterprises at Budadiri Town Council Sironko district. A cross-sectional quantitative research design was used and a sample of 242 traders was used. The research instrument was self-administered questionnaire which sought responses on financial institutions, collateral security, entrepreneurship skills and performance of small and medium enterprises. The findings revealed that financial institution, collateral security and entrepreneurship skills as factors of business had a positive and a significant influence on the performance of SMEs in Uganda particularly in Sironko district. The researcher recommends that there is need for financial institutions to reduce on interest rate in order to increase on the rate of borrowing of SMEs to promote their growth and hence generating more employment to the masses. In addition, there is need for SMEs traders to undergo vigorous training on the methods and procedures of applying for the loans from financial intermediaries to increase on their finances and hence growth SMEs. Finally, it’s necessary for the government to increase on the level of education sponsorships to enable more people to acquire business managerial skills hence boosting the performance of small and medium enterprises, also SMEs operators should consider expanding business activities beyond their national markets.Item Coffee Growing On The Economic Welfare Of Rural Farmers In Ugandacase Study Of Bushika Subcounty, Bududa District(Busitema University, 2024) Watsemba MaryCoffee is Uganda’s first traded tropical commodity in the world. Coffee is the major cash crop both in terms of foreign exchange and employment opportunities. Uganda ranks the second in Africa after Ethiopia and eighth in the whole world. It contributes 20 to 30% of the foreign exchange earnings. It is vital for both consumers and producers to understand its influence on their welfare. The situation of farmers growing coffee varies from region to region but generally, the farmers are at a disadvantage in international markets and often sell their products at low prices. Farmers have not only to deal with the unpredictable force of Mother Nature, but also with “the boom and bust cycles in prices of commodities,” political control and inadequate income. Often the examination of the market for coffee can be widespread and focused on economic efficiency other than the local influence of market changes which often result in “the marginalization of small scale farmers, increased environmental degradation, and general rural deterioration and poverty”. With market changes, not only are the shifts seen at the economic level but also on lives of farmers at the local level. Farmers growing coffee ought to consider the worth of their crops because their access to social services such as health, education, meals and their entire livelihood is dependent on the production of their crops. Coffee farmers now sell a pound of coffee for the market price of about one dollar globally. Most of the farmers had their own land with the percentage of 80 and the rest rent with a percentage of 20, most of the farmers practice coffee growing on more than an acre with 75% and the rest on less than an acre with 25%, 75% of the farmers were married, few were single with 18% and very few were divorced with 7%, most of the farmers were males with a percentage of 78 and the rest were females with a percentage of 22, most of the farmers reached primary level with a percentage of 40, 19% o level 18% illiterates and others with the lowest percentage as shown above and most of the farmers were in the age range 18 to 30 years with a percentage of 34, followed by those between 31 to 40 years with a percentage of 25 and the rest lie in the remaining percentages. most of farmers strongly agree that there is a higher level of coffee growing among the rural farmers of Bushika sub county Bududa district, most of the farmers strongly agree that indicators of economic welfare among the rural farmers and , most of the farmers strongly agree that there is a relationship between coffee growing and economic welfare in rural farmers of Bushika sub county in Bududa district. Coffee growing has the potential to significantly impact the economic welfare of rural farmers in Uganda. However, several factors need to be addressed to optimize the benefits for farmers. Government support, market linkages, value addition, farmer cooperatives, income diversification, and infrastructure development are crucial aspects that need attention. A holistic approach focusing on these recommendations can contribute to improving the economic wellbeing of coffee farmers, making them more resilient to market fluctuations and improving their overall quality of life.Item Financial Resources On Academic Performance Of Students At University in Uganda, Case Study: Busitema University Nagongera Campus(Busitema University, 2023) Waikasi SulaimaniThis researcher attempts to examine financial resources as a determinant of students’ academic performance at University in Uganda. Case study at Busitema University Nagongera campus. The objectives of the study were to: Investigate financial resources adopted at Busitema University, Nagongera campus Examine the relationship between financial resources and academic Performance of undergraduate students. Determine the academic performance of students at Busitema University, Nagongera campus The methods that were used to obtain data include interview guide and questionnaires. The study discovered that the financial resources contribute greatly to the students’ academic performance in a way that there is a close relationship between economic status and academic performance. In conclusion it has been stated that financial resources have resulted in high academic performance of the institution. The researcher recommends that the institution should ensure that repair and maintenance of non-current assets is carried out regularly to improve on service delivery, the financial system should be improved to easily detect fraud in all other financial systems.Item The Product Branding On Organization Performance In Uganda (Case Study: Ntake Bakery)(Busitema University, 2024) Olebo JohnThe Bakery industry was one of the sectors of the economy of Uganda that was exploiting the influence of branding to achieve competitive advantage in the marketing of its products. The Bakery industry has seen a steady growth over the years, of which most of the major industry players manufacture their own products and supplement their production with imports from their international partners. The study was guided by the following research objectives; to determine the Effect of income on Household welfare in Kachumbala Town Council, to analyze the effect of Education level on Household welfare in Kachumbala Town Council and to determine the effect of access to land and other agricultural technologies on Household welfare in Kachumbala Town Council. The findings of the study revealed that majority of the respondents were aged (21-30) and (31-40) years, more men were engaged in the study compared to women, and majority of the persons engaged were married. Furthermore the findings reveal that disparities in educational access significantly contribute to income inequality, as individuals with higher education levels tend to secure better-paying jobs and be in position to have a better welfare. Additionally, the lack of diversified employment opportunities exacerbates income disparities, particularly among the youth and women. The study concludes with policy recommendations aimed at enhancing educational access, promoting inclusive economic growth, and improving financial service availability to mitigate income inequality in Kachumbala Town Council.Item Impact Of Saving On The Stardard Of Living Of Households In Uganda A Case Study Of Kasodo Sub County, Pallisa District(Busitema University, 2023) Oboi ZabulonMost of the households in rural areas find it difficult to finance their operations, including their other income-generating activities, owing to their limited and irregular income. Low household incomes threaten to limit the achievement of the UN SDG’s as well as Uganda’s Vision 2030. There is no single pathway towards improving household income because social and economic fundamentals and the saving culture vary from one region to another. This study aimed to find out the impact of savings on standard of living of households in Kasodo Sub County, Pallia District. The study adopted a descriptive research design and focused on target population of 70 households in the area. Questionnaires schedules were administered to a sample of 59 respondents selected among rural households in the area. Households were stratified by distance from the nearest urban Centre and selected using stratified proportionate random sampling. The adult respondents, who were the heads of household, were selected purposively and the research tools administered. The primary data and personal observations were quantified and analyzed using Microsoft excel 2013. Descriptive statistics, such as frequencies and percentages were used for analysis of all quantitative variables. The Spearman's rank correlation Coefficient was used to establish the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. The results were presented in form of tables. The study concluded that the level of savings among households of Kasodo Sub County is relatively low and this is due to the low levels of income generated from subsistence production practiced in the area. The study also concluded that the standard of living of households in Kasodo Sub County, Pallisa District is characterized by low levels of education, low monthly family income, subsistence farming since most of the household heads were peasants, medication given freely through the government health centers and also most of the people are self-employed in either small businesses or in subsistence farming.Item Determinants Of Income Inequality In Uganda. The study adopted cross sectional research design and both questionnaires and interview where used to collect data The study showed the effective marketing strategies used by Ntake bakery such as Promotional strategy a vital component of marketing strategies for the bakery, Product as a strategy refers to the process of promoting a specific product or range of products to attract and retain customers, Place as a strategy in the context of marketing, refers to the geographical location or physical environment where the bakery operates. The performance indicators of Ntake bakery were sales growth, profitability and market growth. Marketing strategies were essential for Ntake bakery company to thrive in a competitive market. By implementing effective marketing techniques, a bakery attracted and retained customers, differentiated itself from competitors, and achieved sustainable growth. Therefore, the influence of marketing on performance of the organization is evident, and that as far as this study is concerned promotion as a marketing strategy had the highest impact on the organization’s performance leading to high sales growth, market share and profitability. Ntake bakery Company Mbale should as a matter of urgency embark on more aggressive product marketing strategies so as to drive its products and services to the target market and to further improve the firm’s level of profit. Ntake bakery Company Mbale should invest more in promotional activities to create awareness of its products and services and enable the products sell in the market so as to increase the sales volume of the companyItem Fishing And Peoples Welfare In Uganda: A Case Study Of Masese Landing Site(Busitema University, 2024) Kayondo IvanFishing and peoples welfare in Uganda. A case study at masese landing site. People welfare seems not to be at a desired point of life provided problems like poverty,hunger,illiteracy, poor housing facilities continue to persist more especially in the fishing communities The role that fishing can play to mitigate some of these problems by improving people"s welfare seems to be under looked and attract little attention. The study employed simple random sampling technique where 169 fishers were involved to represent the 500 fishers in masese landing site. The data was collected by use of questionnaire. This was used to collect relevant information from the correspondents. This method was selected because it is accurate and also gives corespondants time to think and even consult relevant technical people in the community The data was collected by use of use of questionnaires. Questionnaires that contained both open ended and closed questions were issued to the respondents who were to fill in the answers, thereafter The questionnaire were collected from the various respondents for subsequent processing. The study concluded that was a significant relationship between fishing and peoples welfare . The study revealed the major factors fishing activities at masese landing site to be availability of modern technology, availability of refrigeration facilities , the amount of labor employed and the level of capital of the fishermen . the study also revealed to the major contribution of fishing to peoples welfare to be provision of local sea foods , provision of employment opportunities , generation of additional revenue which supplements peoples income and fishing being a source of tourists attraction . the study also established a positive relationship between fishing and peoples welfare, forexample it established a positive relationship employment ,income , urbanization and peoples welfare which is as a result of fishing .The following thorough analysis between fishing and peoples welfare in Uganda . a case study at masese landing site , the researcher believes that the issues below should be addressed by policy makers and other researchers Since the major factors affecting fishing as an economic activity are availability of modern technology, availability of refrigeration facilities , the amount of labour employed and the level of capital of the fishermen , the government through the ministry of finance and ministry of agriculture should increase on the amount of of finds given to SACCOs for fishermen and it should totally zero rate the interests charged on loans to enable fishermen acquire more modern fishing gears and motor boat equipment Since fishing greatly contributes to peoples welfare through provision of local sea foods , provision of employment opportunities , generation of additional revenue which supplements peoples income and fishing being a source of tourists attraction . it should be given a priority by the government during the budget allocation because it employs both the educated and the un educated . People participating in fishing should be helped to obtain fishing licence with ease and plans to facilitate and train them about financial literacy and acquiring better enterprising skills should be undertaken by the government .
